Marysville Dog Owners Group installed a new agility course at the dog park in September 2015, and park-goers are already putting their dogs up to the challenge. The 160-foot course is composed of seven obstacles like those used in agility competitions. The course includes two double-plank jumps, an adjustable tire jump, adjustable double fire hydrant jump, T-bone tunnel, weave poles and a run-across log, with the potential for more fixtures in the future.
Dogs have always had plenty of room in the dog park to roam free, fetch Frisbees and tennis balls, and socialize with other pooches. The new agility course adds another fun, free, healthy way to pump up dogs with plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. The agility equipment was purchased with funds raised at the Marysville Poochapalooza. The annual outdoor dog event will celebrate its 10th anniversary on the second Saturday in July 2015 at Asbery Field in downtown Marysville. Visitors who have tried the agility course at Strawberry Fields say their four-legged companions are liking it once they’ve learned the ins and outs, and the number of users has continued to grow.
